Women’s Tennis Preview 2013

The Irish girls’ tennis team anticipates a successful upcoming season after enjoying a victorious pre-season. They began their winning run in Fresno, taking home the Division Two championship plaque. The Irish also defeated San Mateo High School this last Wednesday and Lick Wilmerding the previous Tuesday.

The junior varsity and varsity teams’ seasons officially begin this Wednesday as they face the Saint Ignatius Wildcats. Varsity will play at home, while JV will play at SI.

Coach Amy and JV Head Coach Andrew agree that the junior varsity girls will likely obtain at least a 10-2 record if they don’t remain undefeated.Head Coach Amy Klecker predicts that the varsity team will beat last year’s record of 13-9 by obtaining a record of at least 15-7, with hopes of qualifying for CCS. The top singles varsity player Alyssa Fong says that she thinks the girls will achieve at least a record greater than their 13-9 record of last year, but does not have any predictions for making CCS.

The team will play their home matches at San Francisco State University, in between State and North State Drive on Lake Merced Avenue. Come out and support our women’s Irish tennis program!
