The collection of photos in this photo essay are of those of Daly City, south of San Francisco. A significant amount of people in this area are made up of Filipino and or Asian ethnicity (a little over 50% of the population). It is no surprise that my Dad, Filipino, and my Mom, Chinese, would consider living in this city. This photo essay captures many important places in my life. I also hope to give the reader a little peek into the life in a suburban area, if you don’t live in one.
Daly City means a lot to me as it has been my home growing up. My goal was to show the many memories I’d have experienced as a person growing up in a very Asian dominant area and to show a suburban point of view to those who hadn’t had the chance. These photos were chosen because of the memories each photo bares, some of which I could not explain because they are very personal. Organization this way shows a feel of time passing and just the general road it takes to see each view along with a very common sight for me as I usually go to the airport at night where I get to see my mom working. The title is also a note saying how commonly Daly City is misspelled as “Daily City.”
