Top Contenders For This Year’s Super Bowl 50

As the NFL season kicksoff this year, there are two especially enticing teams as analysts contemplate who will win Super Bowl L: the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers. As two of the most idolized and successful quarterbacks in the league, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers both have a legitimate shot at another ring. Brady is coming from a championship season while R
odgers reached the NFC Championship (semifinals), suffering a heartbreaking loss to the Seattle Seahawks in overtime. The NFL season is very long, but so far these teams seem to be aiming for a diminutive amount of losses and copious success.

These two teams have started the 2015 season red hot with 2-0 starts. Brady leads all the quarterbacks with 754 passing yards and 7 touchdowns while Rodgers follows close behind with 438 passing yards and 5 touchdowns. Both quarterbacks are yet to throw an interception.

Although undefeated seasons are improbable, no teams have posed to be a threat. Other teams such as the Atlanta Falcons and the Arizona Cardinals who have also started out 2-0. To illustrate the Falcons have defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 26-24 and the New York Giants 24-20 while the Cardinals have defeated the New Orleans Saints 31-19 and the Chicago Bears 48-23. These teams have come short of displaying the same level of dominance as the Packers and the Patriots; the quarterbacks Carson Palmer(Cardinals) and Jay Cutler(Bears) haven’t shown they can compete with any team. There are, of course, the Seattle Seahawks, who have convinced fans to never count them out, but after starting 0-2, they’re going to have to regain the dominance they showed last year, mainly by resigning all-pro safety Kam Chancellor, who has held out since. For the time being, the Seahawks have suffered losses to the Packers and the Rams even after acquiring superstar tight end Jimmy Graham. The Packers have defeated the Bears 31-23 and the Seahawks 27-17 with Aaron Rodgers throwing at least 180 yards and 2 touchdowns in each game. Moreover, the Patriots have won against the Steelers(28-21) and the Buffalo Bills(40-32) with Tom Brady throwing at least 280 yards and 3 touchdowns in both games.

The NFL is a very competitive league with 32 teams all competing for one trophy. Counting out any team would be a stretch, but as of now, the Patriots’ and Packers’ hallmark for success singles them out as the top two teams primed for a deep run in the playoffs this year.
