THE Coffee Cake

During this holiday, who doesn’t want some hot baked goods? Here’s a simple recipe of homemade coffee cake! This is definitely a great treat to bring to family gathering or potlucks.

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Cook time : 40-45 minutes

Serving: 16 servings

 

INGREDIENTS FOR THE CAKE:

1-1/2 stick butter, softened

2 cups scant sugar

3 cups flour, sifted

4 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1-1/4 cup whole milk

3 whole egg whites, beaten until stiff

INGREDIENTS FOR THE TOPPING:

1-1/2 stick butter, softened

3/4 cups flour

1-1/2 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons cinnamon

1-1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.

3. Beat egg white and set aside.

4. Mix butter and white sugar together, add the sifted flour and milk and mix until they are mixed evenly.

5. Add in the egg white and slowly fold the mixture.

6. Pour batter into a baking pan.

7. Mix the ingredients of the toppings and pour it on top of the batter.

8. Bake the batter for 40-45 minutes.
