Heaven and Earth- SHC’s Winter Chorus Concert

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! The SHC Chorus Winter Concert outdid themselves once again in this year’s performance! This year, the theme of our concert was “Heaven & Earth”, as directed by our very own Chorus Director Christian Bohm. “Heaven & Earth” featured traditional and classical songs like Veni, Veni Emmanuel and Angels Gloria, as well as popular Christmas carols like Sleigh Ride and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. It also incorporated songs from modern day pop culture like September by Earth, Wind & Fire. The SHC Concert Chorus as well as the Testostertones, Women’s Ensemble, Vocal Jazz Choir, and Chamber Choir had been preparing since August for this concert.  If we do say so ourselves, everything was great! You could really feel the heaven and earth ambiance of our theatre; maybe you even caught yourself singing along.

The SHC concert choir practices every blue period as well as after school right before concerts.  Although it can be a bit tiring and we do have to make some sacrifices, being in chorus is one of the best things you can ever do here at SHC.  Not only is it fun, but you will also make a bunch of new friends whom you can consider a part of your family.  Performing in concerts is so much fun! Being backstage and waiting for our call as well as singing in front of bright lights while wearing our choir attire adds to the excitement of being in chorus. So if you get the opportunity, definitely join chorus!

If you were unable to see “Heaven & Earth”, be sure to checkout the SHC Spring Concert in May 2014! More details to come.
