Mysteries of the Fourth Floor

When I ventured to the fourth floor for the first time in three months, I was greatly surprised to find a hallway. While there was nothing terribly unusual about there being a hallway, this particular hallway was a) blue, and b) running through an area that had previously been occupied by a wall. Naturally, some research was necessary.

Due to SHC’s new science curriculum, incoming freshman take algebra-based physics before chemistry and biology. However, there are still many juniors and seniors who are also taking calculus-based physics, apart from the incoming freshmen. In order to accommodate these changes, major adjustments were made to the fourth floor. Some of the rooms were completely revamped. Whiteboards now cover the walls, the desks are tables with nicer seats, and the rooms are quite blue. Other changes include the addition of a hydration station that features a higher and lower fountain.

The project in total cost around $600,000. SHC plans to have similar work done to the second floor in order to improve the science labs, so they will resemble those on the fourth floor. Hopefully, we raised enough money during Walkathon to bring about these changes soon.
