Turkey Pop Treats
Pumpkin pie has become a staple of every Thanksgiving, so why not try something new? I have a different, delicious dessert that will really ‘pop’! These tasty treats, similar to cake pops, are bite-sized morsels that are sure to satisfy. While they’re fun for kids, adults will certainly get a kick out of them.
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 24
Ingredients:
-
3 tbsp. butter or margarine
-
1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows OR 4 cups miniature marshmallows
-
6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal
-
24 lollipop sticks or wooden ice cream sticks
-
1 package (12 oz., 2 cups) semi-sweet chocolate chips
-
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
-
1 1/3 cups candy corn
-
48 small white candies (they’re like little tiny balls)
Directions to make the Rice Krispies:
-
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat
-
Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat
-
Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated
-
Using 1/4 cup (coated with cooking spray), divide the warm cereal mixture into 24 portions
-
Using buttered hands, shape each portion into a ball
-
Insert the lollipop sticks into each
-
Place on wax-paper-lined baking sheet
-
Refrigerate for about 10 minutes, or until firm
Directions to make the chocolate:
-
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and oil
-
Microwave on high for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until smooth, stirring every 30 seconds
-
Dip each rice ball into chocolate, allowing excess to drip off
-
Return to wax-paper-lined baking sheet
-
Refrigerate for 5 to 10 minutes more or until chocolate is almost set
-
Gently decorate with candy corn for tail feathers (3 is fine) and one for the beak
-
Press in white candy balls for the eyes
-
Let stand until firm
